Erin Fornoff reads her poem 'Espero' in this episode of Words Lightly Spoken.
Originally from the United States, Erin has been living in Ireland for the past 10 years and has recently become an Irish citizen. Much of her work considers the idea of 'home', what it means and how to find it.
This poem is based on the experience Erin's mother had while teaching English as a second language to the children of migrant farmworkers in the US. It reflects the plight of undocumented citizens. 'Espero' is from her collection Hymn to the Reckless, published by Dedalus Press.
Words Lightly Spoken, a podcast about poetry from Ireland, is a Rockfinch production, funded by the Arts Council of Ireland / An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
