Novel of the North
In this conversation, recorded at MoLI’s First Fridays in October 2025, Nathalie Lamprecht, (Charles University, Faculty of Arts) speaks to writers Gráinne O’Hare and Wendy Erksine about contemporary writing from Northern Ireland. They discuss making time for their creative practice in a busy schedule, what makes a ‘Belfast novel’, as well as the use of multiple perspectives and humour to approach heavy topics.
This work was made possible with the financial support of the Charles University Grant Agency, project no. 128323, entitled 'The Young Woman in Recent Irish Fiction’, implemented at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University. First Fridays is supported by PwC and the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Éalaion. MoLI’s digital programme is supported by Ebow Digital.
